Great Bedroom Decor

The bedroom is the place where you spend a great deal of time every day, albeit much of it asleep. This, of course, means that it needs to be a place of relaxation, and for many people, romance.

It’s all to easy to let the clutter of everyday life invade your bedroom, but this impairs your ability to relax in the one room in the house that should be designed for that purpose. It’s time to decorate your bedroom for its true purpose.

Start out by thinking about your personal style. What would you like to have in your bedroom? What would make it relaxing, romantic or both? If you’re married, what would appeal to your spouse?

Let’s start with the bed. As the largest piece of furniture in most rooms, as well as the most used, it is something of a focal point. Do you like the bedding? What about the bedframe itself?

Sometimes you will quickly realize that it is time to replace all your bedroom furniture when you decide to redecorate your bedroom. Maybe the old furniture just isn’t your style anymore. With today’s online shopping available, finding new furniture doesn’t have to mean running all around town anymore. You can shop from the comfort of your own home and often get better prices.

Designing Woman

We all remember our grandmother’s house. It was either warm and welcoming or smelly and stark. Her couch was either the kind you sink into and never want to leave or the kind that when you sit on it your behind actually bounces off, as if the inanimate piece of furniture was trying to catapult you across the room.

A piece of furniture can look nice but not feel nice, which is why everyone ends up gathered in your kitchen when you have parties. That couch you thought would bring the room together so nicely did such a good job that you feel guilty breaking the monotony by entering the room. Unless your house is a wing in the Louvre, your furniture shouldn’t be museum pieces-or else you’re destined to be the type of grandparent with the “smelly” and “stark” house. And no one wants that. So, put away the Scotch guard and protective covers. New furniture is in order.

The good news is that you don’t have to choose form over function. Barbara Barry, whose line of classic, yet modern, highly functional furniture is now being carried at Robb & Stucky Interiors, who claim the largest staff of licensed interior designers in Florida and Arizona and recently earned a spot in House Beautiful’s “Top Five Furniture Stores” in addition to their five-year stint as recipients of the ARTS Award.

Designer Lighting For The Home

Lighting has been used to great effect on places such as theatre and musical stages, making up an integral part of the show. Now lighting is also beginning to spark a rapidly growing interest among home decor enthusiast, who realize that lighting can have dramatic effects on how a room is perceived. Although we are not talking about rapidly flashing disco-lights here, some lighting alternatives are actually used more for their aesthetical than their practical value.

The art of employing lights and fixtures for achieving intense effects, designed to achieve a specified mood, have become a hot thing among home interior decoration designers nowadays.

Ideally the lighting scheme should be great from both a down-to-earth and stylistic perspective and information show that pendant lights and similar designs are taking up more and more space in stores committed to interior decorating.

Various styles of recessed lighting are not really a new ingenuity, but in our time they are appearing in places you may not have encountered them before – such as out on a patio, for example.

Seeing a subtle yet, effectual recessed patio lighting, powered partially by solar power for the first time is indeed a model that get’s the inspiration going for getting into to light up the outside of your home as well.

From the purely practical/economical point of view, the solar powered alternatives are of course most interesting. But, in many cases, combining appealing design and some sort of solar panels are not always easy or affordable. Once in place though, you can get literally unlimited energy without paying a cent for it, provided that you live in a location that provide enough sun that is.

Among other common lighting trends right now are many forms of accent lighting that may, for instance, be aimed onto a wall in order to complement the illuminate provided by the fixtures in the ceiling or from a range of recessed lighting.

Affordable home decor

Home, is not just a place where a person spends a lifetime, but it’s a place full of positive energies and emotions. Now we deserve everything better at an affordable prize to make our home the most beautiful place in the world.

Decorating with coat racks and vintage clothing

When most people think of coat racks, they think strictly of hanging coats, hats, and scarves. But coat racks can be a lot more than just a place to keep clutter off the floor. They can also provide you with an opportunity to display your own, unique decorating tastes.

One of my favorite ways to decorate with coat racks is to display vintage clothing on them. Wall-mounted coat racks work particularly well for displaying vintage hats and bonnets. And floor-mounted coat racks are a natural for cloaks, gowns, shawls and scarves.

Don’t go cheap when using coat racks as a decorating accent. True, you can pick up a generic wall-mounted coat rack for under $10 and a floor-standing one for under $30. But if your goal is to create an eye-catching accent, don’t expect a cheap one to have the effect you want.

Bent wood, rattan, wrought iron, or brass give you the best eye appeal in a floor-standing coat rack. And look for furniture-quality solid hardwood in wall-mounted coat racks. Don’t settle for generic, dime-store coat hooks on your coat rack when you can easily combine the beauty of brass and porcelain or get the rustic strength of wrought iron.

You can find wall-mounted coat racks with rosemaling, or other styles of decorative painting. These always add to your accent, as do such features as a plate rack or decorative shelf on top that allows you to display other collectibles.

And a mirror, whether etched or plain, on your wall-mounted coat rack is always a big plus. Not only does it enhance the beauty of your accent, but it provides a much appreciated service to your guests of letting them check their appearance after coming in from outdoors.

Creating a Tropical Bathroom on a Budget

Tired of that same old boring bathroom? You want a change, something Tropical, but you just don’t have the money to pull off some of the looks that the magazines show right? Wrong! Here are some tips to help you create a tropical paradise in your bathroom without breaking the bank:

Make a game plan of what you would like to do to your bathroom. While it doesn’t have to be elaborate blue prints, just a small list of what you would like to do and the end result you want to create will be enough to keep you on track while out looking for items. This will also help you to stay within a budget and not overspend on things that you didn’t plan on.

Hit local dollar stores. You might have to hit a couple before you find anything that you like or can use, but you can usually find the basics here like: toothbrush holders, cups, soaps, towels, rugs, etc. Some might even carry strands of ivy or palm that you can buy really cheap to help decorate your bathroom with.

Hit local fabric shops or stores that carry bolts of fabric. If you like the look of the sheer, white, material strung above a bath or shower like a canopy of bug netting, this is the place to get it. You don’t need to shell out all those bucks for expensive material, just pick out some very lightweight white or off-white material for your canopy, but make sure that you get enough to cover the canopies that you want to make.

Comforters: How Materials Make A Positive Difference

As wives and mothers, we often look to home décor and bedding accessories for our household to represent the luxurious lifestyle we wish to lead. We want our homes to exemplify our tastes, as well as provide the most comfort possible, within our budgetary limitations.

As young couples begin their lives, they find that the bedroom is the most logical and affordable room in the house to begin expressing their personal style and vision. That is why so many people put a great deal of time, effort, and money into finding the right comforter and comforter set to serve as the template for creating the perfect bedroom suite.

For many of us, our bedroom is the room in which we spend most of our time — a full one third of our lives in most cases. For many people, our bedroom also serves as a retreat from the outside world when everything else in life turns difficult. It is our haven away from the constant chatter of children and away from the stresses of the day’s activities.

Materials Make The Comforters Comfortable

Materials that are made from synthetic fibers, synthetic blends, and 100% natural fibers are used to create multiple types of comforters. Comforter fabric designs can range from simple to elaborate, depending on the present or future presentation of one’s home.

Comforters, which are polyester-filled, cotton-filled, or a combination of the two, are really the most popular options for bed comforter sets. The polyester- or cotton-filled are the most reasonably priced of the many types of comforters and that directly accounts for the popularity of the style.
